In Pakistan, the farming sector contributes to 1/4 of the annual GDP. It has been highly affected by losses in cotton and rice crops. Today, figures are under the 5.2% growth of 1996 and under forecasts (5%) since the agriculture only increases by a 1% (1997-1998).
