Transportation
Road
Except the main roads, which connect the cities, the network is
very poor and the secondary network is composed of badly maintained
roads requiring the use of 4x4 vehicle. There is only one highway
(Motorway 2) from Islamabad to Lahore. The traffic being important
and anarchic, it is better to travel, if possible, with a rented
car and with a professional chauffeur. No difficulty in finding gas
supply on the main roads. In the event of an accident, call the
nearest police station in order to draw up the accident statement.
There are no hospitals in remote places.
Rail
Rather good on the whole but punctuality and comfort are weak.
There are frequent bomb attacks against trains.
Air
As for domestic flights, the national airline PIA has a good
connections network. Aero Asia and Bhoja Air are private companies
which ensure a few domestic flights notably because of the poor
shape of their planes.
Internet
The Internet suffix is: .pk
Languages spoken
Official language: Urdu. Commercial languages: Urdu and English.
Urdu is the official language of Pakistan. It is important to note
that Pendjabi, Sindhi and Pashto are other languages which are
frequently spoken.
